4 Daffodil Craft Activities for the Kids; Marie Curie’s Daffodil Campaign

Don't miss a thing

We all know the sinking feeling when we wake up to a wet and dull day. It’s always a hard task to occupy your little ones, and even worse when the weather isn’t in your favour. A sure fire way to make sure a rainy day is not one wasted is to have a few crafty ideas up your sleeve. By having just a few items at home, and some super cool crafts to make you’ll have the kids occupied for hours.

Marie Curie Daffodil

Need a theme to get your creative juices flowing? Why not take inspiration from Marie Curie’s daffodil campaign? Getting your kids involved with charity work from a young age is a great way to teach tand help them understand more complex and serious topics. Marie Curie give care and support to those with terminal illnesses, and equally as importantly, their families. The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds of their work: putting a positive spin on this sad reality for many families in the UK. So why not get behind the campaign with these four fun daffodil crafts to try out next time the rain puts a damper on your day!

  • Delicious daffodil pops

Not a master baker? Don’t worry these daffodil pops are too easy to get wrong. Either make your own cookie dough from scratch or get down to your local supermarket for a pre made alternative. Use a star cutter to get the desired shape and bake as directed.

Once cooled make up some simple yellow icing with powdered sugar, water and food colouring. Pop some orange sweeties and decorations in bowls: perfect for small fingers. Let your little ones loose on the daffodil cookies, decorating away to their hearts content.

Finally grab some lollipop sticks, dyed with green food colouring to give a stalk like look. Use thick icing to stick the cookies onto each stick to finish off your delicious daffodils. And there you have it, a yummy treat for some crafty kids, or a perfect addition to a charity cake sale.

  • Dunking potato daffs

This craft only takes a little bit of preparation on your part. Cut potatoes in half to act as a perfect stamp for daffodil petals. Cut egg boxes into sections: the cups make perfect centres for a 3D daffodil effect. With plenty of paper and paint, the opportunities are endless! But be sure to cover your area well to ensure no unwanted spillages or messy handprints leaving a surprise later!

  • Dainty daffodil bunting

This one is perfect for daughters who want to brighten up their bedroom, or to sell at a charity craft sale. Let your pretty flower girl choose some bright ribbon, grab some thin yellow card, and once again some old egg boxes. Once again help out little hands by cutting out the centre of the egg boxes, ready for them to paint orange for the daffodil trumpets. Draw daffodil shapes all over the card and cut out as many as you need.

Simply attach each centre with a little glue and leave to dry. Decorate with glitter or fill the centre with beads to give the daffodils a bit of sparkle. Finally attach your finished flowers to the ribbon, simply with sticky tape.

  • Sweet treat daffodils

Daffs

These cute cups are perfect for a sweet treat on a rainy day, or to take into school to share with all their friends. Let your little ones cut daffodil shapes from thin yellow card and decorate with anything they might want to add. Next get your hand on some coloured cake cases and attach to the centre of each shape with glue. Leave to dry completely. In the meantime grab some brightly coloured sweets, in daffodil yellow, bright orange, or grassy green. Finish off with filling each cake case with a few sweets to give a pollen like effect. A yummy daffodil treat to keep the kids sweet!

It’s remarkable to pay a visit this site and reading the views of all mates about this paragraph, while I
am also zealous of getting experience.
