A rare moment in the history of The Dad Network. Mrs Dad Network, the wife, Jen is featuring on The Dad Network for the first time!
It was a very special evening when I came home from work, sat down at the computer and saw an opened word document that I hadn’t written. I wasn’t entirely sure what it was, but it said at the top, ‘A letter to my husband.’ I think I was entitled at that point to assume it was for me and so I began to read:
My darling Al,
Its Monday morning and whilst most people are waking up with the Monday morning blues I am feeling completely the opposite. I woke up feeling extremely grateful and I am full of happiness and love. I feel very lucky to be in the position I am in and live the life I lead.
Today I get to spend another day with our beautiful boy. A full 12 hours with him. We get to enjoy baby class, get time to play at home, laugh together, love one another and just enjoy being together. There are no words to tell you how precious this time is to me. I love each and every day with him and our time together is priceless. I know how hard you work and the sacrifices you make for me to be able to stay at home and be with Ted. For that I am forever grateful. I appreciate everything you do for me and for us and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Some women find mad passionate love with men that aren’t necessarily great dad material, others find men that are great dads but they don’t have the crazy whirlwind romance with them. I don’t know what I did to deserve it but I have both in you. I am deeply, madly, crazily in love with you. Just a look or a touch from you can fill me with butterflies. I find you incredibly attractive in so many ways. On top of all that you are also the most incredible father. You don’t have the luxury of 12 hours a day with Ted and yet the time you do have with him you have used to make your relationship with him incredibly strong. You know what he likes and what he doesn’t. You know when he is ready to nap or when he is hungry. You know when he wants to play and when he wants to cuddle. You are fun, loving and gentle with him and you are doing the most fantastic job of being his daddy. We are both very lucky. You are a wonderful husband and an equally wonderful father. I want to thank you for all that you do for us, let you know that we appreciate you and that we love you dearly.
Your loving wife Jen x
I’m not sure I need say anything else. My heart warmed when I read this and warms when I re-read it. I’m lucky, well, more than lucky actually. I couldn’t ask for anything else.
I love you two too x
