I was speaking to PE teacher the other day about cravings and the quantity of food pregnant women take on. His experience with it was that during his wife’s pregnancy that he started to put on weight. Prior, he was fit and healthy and normal weight and it was only when his wife’s cravings came in to play that he started to gain weight. As far as I know, this seems to be rather common amongst expectant fathers. Not me though! I am determined not to fall into that trap.

The various triathlons, sportives and races that I have booked in will suffer too much if I do gain weight and loose fitness. (I have been instructed not to book any races in within a month either side of due date…)

So, I have taken it upon myself to keep a relatively strict diet.

Granola & yoghurt for breakfast.

Hemp protein for snack

Salad and protein for lunch (chicken or salmon/tuna)

Hemp protein for snack

Normal dinner including a portion of carbs.

And I have cut down my portion sizes as I am well known for large portions!!!

Before and after I train, I also have Hemp protein. Hemp protein is a natural form of protein. This makes it pure and good for the body, unlike many leading protein brands. It includes all the essential amino acids and they don’t add anything unnecessary to it. The one I use is a lean shake which helps trim down and loose excess body fat whilst maintaining and improving muscle leanness. The shake is easily digestible and doesn’t taste too offensive, which is always helpful. There are others in their stock list including muscle gain proteins. I would really recommend this company for the purest and best protein you can get and also customer service.

In my opinion, it’s so important for dads to keep a watch on their weight, especially as when the wife sends you out for pack of ginger nuts or 10 chocolate bars, it’s very tempting to get yourself one. You are not having the cravings., she is! Good luck with keeping in shape dads! We’re up against it.
