Dad and kid World Cup challenges – Part 2

World Cup MOTD 2

Don't miss a thing

We’ve already shared some World Cup challenges for you and your kids to take part in as we look forward to the tournament. But are you hungry for more? Well, good news. We’ve huddled down with BBC Match of the Day magazine to create three more tasks for you to get involved with ahead of this year’s World Cup finals.

Pump up your ball, grab your shinnies and a slice of orange for half time and try out these challenges today.

Foot-burling

Do you think you could play that all-important, perfectly weighted ball to your striker to set up the World Cup winning goal? Then this is the challenge for you. Take on your child to see who is the rightful heir to Pirlo in your family.

Place a copy of the latest Match of the Day magazine somewhere on the pitch and then you each get three attempts to pass the ball as close as possible to it. Like in curling, the closest to the mag is the winner of this challenge. Make sure you hold your nerve for this one!

Rainbow flick to volley

This involves a bit of team work between you and your challenge. One of you attempts the rainbow flick, where the player rolls the ball up the calf of their standing leg and then flicks it over their head, whilst the other latches onto the ball and volleys it home. Obviously, you are not competing against each other, but the sheer joy of pulling it off is enough to offer a major bonding moment for you and your child.

If you want to make it competitive, challenge another dad and their kid to try it and see who can pull it off most often.

Corner shot

Can you bend it like Beckham or curl it like Carlos? This challenge is a toughie, but worth it for the moment it works! You and your kid get five corners each. You score one point for scoring from the corner if it touches the ground before going in the goal. If you score without it bouncing, you earn a mighty three points.

Grab your copy of the latest Match of the Day magazine to really get you and your children hyped for the World Cup. There is a sweepstake kit to create your own World Cup sweepstake, a World Cup quiz and the chance to make a magic World Cup dice to make predictions for the tournament! Plus so much more!
