Hi,
I have a 4 year old boy with developmental delay who has recently started school. With me he is normally calm, well behaved, will do as I ask, but when my wife is around he seems to lose control of his impulses, it’s worse still when I’m not at home. This is having a really terrible effect on our family. My wife takes it very personally and it aggravates her anxieties about his development. She is resentful that he behaves better with me and shuts off. It is impossible to have a constructive conversation without it turning into an argument. She can only see things getting worse and us having a problem child forever, living with us into adulthood.
Any advice on how to help with my son’s behaviour and how to cope with the strain it is putting on our relationship would be greatly appreciated.
