Having taught Y1 (I’m now in Reception), I have to totally agree with you when you say that not meeting the national standard isn’t anything to worry about. I mean, when you apply for jobs it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be asked what score you got in the Y1 screener! It’s purely another way of measuring schools and the only people that need to do any worrying are school leaders who are paid to worry about these things!
