DIY Tasks

Don't miss a thing

The traditional view of the DIY expert dad might be a thing of the past. Ring found that one in 15 dads reckon they can’t do any DIY at all, with many struggling with even the most basic tasks. There’s nothing wrong with this, of course. We all have different skills. However, it is handy to be able to perform some of the jobs mentioned in the survey. Changing a lightbulb

A massive 26% of dads admitted not being able to change a lightbulb, meaning there’s a lot of fathers sitting around in the dark, waiting for help. Whilst this may seem shocking (pun sort of intended) to many, it is obviously a major issue for some dads, so let’s take a look at how to do it:

Unblocking a toilet

Even more dads say they can’t unblock a toilet. 36% to be precise. This is an essential skill, as you don’t want to have to worry about where you’ll answer the call of nature whilst waiting for a plumber to come and fix your only toilet. This video explains one cunning technique:

Wiring a plug

Disaster! The plug on your toaster is bust and you HAVE to have toast immediately! What do you do? Well, 40% of dads are binning the whole thing and buying a new one as they admit they don’t know how to wire a plug. Lucky for them and their wallets, this video shows them how to!
