Duncan commented on the post, Is it a willy or a penis? What words do you use around your children? 4 months, 3 weeks ago
It has always been penis in our house but we have 2 generations of nurses before my wife. To be fair a nursery worker was really taken aback when my eldest came out with “you have to wipe my penis” she had never heard a 2 year old come out with the anatomically correct term.

We have an activity bag that comes with us but have never tried the trays. The bag has various fidget type toys a couple of small books and other bits.

The clock worked great for us for about 6 months now my son switches it off and tells us it is broken at about 5 am. So that is a new challenge. We also have a younger one who hates any light in his room so more changes there.

Very little to be honest. I work shifts. She is with the kids all day and doesn’t drive or really like socialising. So when I finish I am heading straight home to try and sort the day out clean up and possibly put kids to bed (depending on the shift) recently she has been so exhausted as I come in she has been falling asleep sometimes for 14 or…[Read more]

It is certainly a hard and unusual situation. Have you spoken to any family solicitors or citizens advice. It seems like it is going to be a bit of a specialist area. I hope you get everything sorted out but there is always support here if you need it.

I thought I would open up with my experience I have previously worked in a kitchen cooking at one point for kids in a holiday park and later in life in a restaurant kitchen. I have 2 children 1 currently 4 nearly 5 with asd (significance later) and a 1 year old.

This is something I know that can scare many parents and is something people think they are getting very wrong. In an age of Instagram super parents with uber meals and ethical vegan diets. To having to support children with allergies and food intolerances it can feel like a struggle to get out 3 meals a day or any healthy snacks so share with…[Read more]

Also a submission service for new places and option to submit updates if things change such as closure so things don’t get too out of date and it doesn’t require constant checking of each item on the system

Parks that have interactivity such as play areas or climbing walls.
Free museums or exhibitions again with activities.
Great value activities (pay once for a years access type)

We love parks and interactive museums. We are lucky in Glasgow as most are free to visit too. The boys also love the beach but it is a little cold for paddling in December.

My eldest has a tablet that he can use but no online video on it. The only time he gets you tube is when we are going round the supermarket so very minimal hours.

I feel for you mate we are in an opposite situation but not to the same number. 2 boys but my wife was deviated that our 2nd wasnt a girl. Although the practicalities of having same sex kids have sort of won her over. She on the other hand has pretty much ruled out any more.

We are having more and more problems getting our eldest 4 nearly 5 year old to go to bed. Every day he gets into his bed and doesnt want us to leave as he says he is scared of the dark. He has a personal led nightlight to try and combat the fear however we still get a fight every night.

We were lucky with both boys and neither has been bothered after about 5 mins. We had more issues when the oldest had chicken pox and we were suggested to give him piriton. He wouldn’t take any oral medicine for over 6 months.

As Dominic has said get to citizens advice. If you can speak to you ex as see if any compromise can be made. The kids need to always come first and if she can’t provide a place they are happy and safe in maybe she will need to concede some of the overnights until she can.

If care is 50/50 there should be no discussion about child maintenance. In relation to benefits it is a very sticky situation and we’ll worth speaking to your local citizens advice. Also maybe worth agreeing that any child benefit payments get directly allocated to your daughter. Everyone’s situation is different and we don’t know a lot about your…[Read more]
