Worst bit if you could even call it that was the local anaesthetic as it stings a bit being jabbed down there. But the feeling during wasn’t uncomfortable, the recovery fine too. You’re bruised but nothing out of the ordinary.
As for sex drive, not affected mine one bit, not that it makes much difference!
We’ve had a reusable advent calendar the past few years that gives an activity a day in the run up to Christmas. It’s covered food for reindeer, making cards and other similar activities. Like what you’re suggesting; will steal some for next year!

North Wales is amazing. Went youth hostelling and camping up there in my late teens; camped just outside Capel Curig at the foot of Tryfan and it was amazing scenery. Did the trip up Snowdon and going to take the family back before too long.
Haven holidays are pretty damn good as well!

It shocks me at the school I’m a governor of that they routinely need to give kids toast in a morning to make sure they’ve eaten. Had them hit our house last autumn and found them harder to shift from my daughter than my son. Tried the mousse rather than a shampoo with varying success and found the Vamousse one worked well for us. Plus it had a game you could download to a phone to occupy the kids when applying it or combing!

Patience is the key. Things won’t be the same as they once might have been between you but you need to support and help them rather than resent them for it. But equally don’t stand by and become a punch bag too; if they are treating you bad, anxiety is a reason why but not an excuse for it.
