That’s right, that is an actual quote.
This mum is receiving criticism on social media for threatening to punch breastfeeding women and their babies. This post, from July 2018 has since been taken down yet still rearing its head for people to react to.
Parents across the globe are (entirely justifiably) outraged with one saying,
“To see another woman with kids say that she’s willing to give the woman a black eye for feeding in front of her children – it really takes us a step back to have other women saying this.”
Another mum added, “What in the actual hell??! How do people – especially a woman – still have this kind of mentality???! How ridiculous!! We have been feeding our babies the way our bodies intended since the dawn of time.”
Carly Clark was confronted about her post but refused to apologise. She pointed out that her comment was only directed at one person, despite displaying it publicly on her Facebook.
She went on… “[I don’t care] who breastfeeds when my kids aren’t around. Pulling your boob out in front of my kids on purpose just to prove a point is simply represented by who you are as a person.”
There’s no denying that freedom of speech is a great thing, but Clark clearly didn’t think through the ramifications. Petsense, her now-former employer, fired her shortly after the event, stating,
“We absolutely would never condone violence such as was recently posted… This individual is no longer employed by Petsense. We sincerely apologize to all of those who have been affected by this situation.”
So in one thoughtless post on Facebook Clark not only manage to offend every single person who read her viral post but also lost her job. If ever there’s an example for why you should always think before you click, this is it.
