Households are expected to see a significant rise in energy prices next spring, the Office of Electricity and Gas has warned.
From the 1st of October, about 15 million families faced a 12% rise in energy bills. For standard tariff users, this was an increase of about £139. For prepayment meter customers, this was an increase of £153.
Analysts Cornwall Insight said that the cap could go up by £400, making a household with typical energy use pay about £1,660 a year.
