This month I wrote a post for BabyCentre about Ted wearing some items of clothing that are labelled and sold as ‘girls’ clothes in the ‘girls’ sections of shops. I wrote discuss it again but you can read the full blog post here. I was pretty shocked by some of the comments but it turns out that a lot of you agree with me and also wish that some clothes were sold as unisex. Take a look at Ted’s Threads this week and see if you can spot the items that were specifically sold for girls.
We love Joules clothing and these two baby grows sum up why. Stripes have always been a favourite of ours. Then add in the bright colours and a cute motif and you can’t go wrong. The side poppers give easy assess and they wash really well. No colour fading here. You can still get some amazing bargains in the Joules Sale too.
I love being outdoors. Whatever the weather. So it’s vital to have the right clothing. A cold, wet baby will not be a happy baby. Thankfully for us if Ted has the right coat and footwear then he loves being outside in all weathers. Here he is out in the wet, cold garden having the time of his life with bubbles and a snail. What more could a boy want. The Muddy Puddles coat is waterproof but also lined with an incredibly soft fleece so it ticks all the boxes.
The weather suddenly changed and some awesome knitwear was in order for the past couple of weeks. Ted gives this Nature’s Purest knit a big thumbs up. It looks great but is soft to touch. So many of the knits are itchy but this one is itch-free. This one is from their new toddlers range. (How? Where did my baby go?) Its 100% cotton and fastens with two buttons on the shoulder. For parents keen to ensure ethical apparel sourcing its also received a ‘Garments without Guilt’ certification.
Once the initial famous madness of the Next sale dies down you can find some amazing bargains. These two pairs of pencil leggings and animal leggings were £3 each. The pencils are the perfect garment for the son of two teachers ;) The elasticated waistband is great for Teddy too as he is quite small for his 17 months.
On Ted’s first birthday we discovered Nor-folk and we have been shopping there ever since. Be warned that if you visit their site you will have a very full shopping basket! We love the sparkling black ink combined with holographic vinyls. Ted loves stroking the different textures. This one is limited edition, and each shape is applied by hand, making every tee unique.
The holographic vinyls match the neon in the leggings perfectly. These cool wolf leggings can be sourced from Be Unique Kids who are currently running a great sale.
My wife looks beautiful in hats and Ted obviously has her hat genes because he sure knows how to rock a beanie. These are our favourites and we have a few different colours. Ted will now wear his hats very happily which is great as it’s suddenly so cold. Ryder-L offer a great service whereby you can mix and match the colour of the beanie and the colour of the pom-pom. We love the mustard colour too. You can see Ted is his here.
We love monochrome and these harem pants from Shmuncki are a great loose comfy fit. They have an elasticated waist and deep ankle cuffs. They are made from 100% soft interlock cotton. They are Oeko Tex standard 100 tested and certified.
Think you spotted the ‘girls’ clothes? Let me know in the comments section, which items you think they were and if you think they should be sold as unisex.
All of Ted’s clothes can be seen on our Instagram page with direct links to the shops that sell them.
We’ve also started doing flatlays and would love to know what you think and if you have any tips for us. I think I might be the only #flatlay dad but let me know if there are any other dad’s out there.
Your flatlays are looking great! I won’t guess the girls clothes as I already know and that would be cheating! Ted looks gorgeous as always!
Ah, thank you. :)
Ah I love that sleep suit I just love anything with fox
I totally agree with a unisex Isle! My LG’s wear some boys clothes which I try to girly up, esp for baba as she often gets mistaken for a boy!! But I think people are more accepting of girls wearing boy clothes than the other way around…which is silly! He looks gorg in all the outfits!x
A dad after my own heart, I LOVE shopping the sales at the very end – pot luck style. Baby Lolo has the same Next leggings as Ted, go figure, I put my son in leggings too! #WeekendTotsStyle x
I think he looks ace, definite shame they don’t make boys clothes more bright sometimes! Popping over from #weekendtotstyle
I’m going to take a look at your Unisex post in a bit, but I no doubt feel just like you do about clothing. So many times I could happily pick up bits for my kids from the opposite sex clothing areas. Probably wouldn’t try and get away with it now for Lewis as hes 6 years old. But I am saving all Lewis’s jeans for when Leah grows up to see if they suit her! She’ll probably want his Minecraft t-shirts too! Lovely outfits, thank you sharing and joining in with #WeekendTotStyle
Yay for Ted’s Threads linking up again. We’ve missed ya! Again, I totally agree on the unisex clothing matter and it really puzzles me why people get all emotional about it. Let’s all just dress our kids in what we like, unless it’s offensive!! I am loving all these outfits you’ve shared. I think the Yellow jacket, the knit and stripe combo outfit and the last outfit are my faves, but it was very hard to pick :) Thanks so much for linking up with us and hope you’re having a great weekend! #weekendtotstyle
Definitely agree, there should be more sold as unisex. I am loving those pencil leggings! #weekendtotstyle
What a stylish little man you have there! He’s so cool looking. There’s always such a drama about unisex clothing, as long as I like it and I believe Penny would too then who cares which section its from. Teds looking awesome as always, love how you write the brand names of clothing into the picture. Great idea! x #weekendtotstyle
Some lovely bright clothing there for a wee boy. Love. The grows are adorable and I love the yellow jacket. #weekendtotstyle
