Why Hot Tubs Might Just Bring Your Family Closer Together

Recently we have had the pleasure of staying in holiday accommodation that housed a hot tub. As soon as the children (14,7,4) saw it they wanted to dive straight in.

Initially, we thought the excitement would wear off but during that week-long holiday the children were in the hot tub first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

During our holiday we made the best of memories together, many made in the Hot Tub as a family. From games with the children, to our son learning to put his face under the water for the first time , to late night Prosecco as a couple watching the sun set. The Hot Tub was the place to be and provided us with an activity that the entire family loved to be part of.

When we came home the children asked if we could get one for the garden. Our initial thought was no! Surely you need heaps of knowledge, a very specific type of outdoor space and lots of money!

The children were relentless and so we started some research. We quickly found that none of our initial thoughts were correct and that the process of buying, assembling and running a Hot Tub was well within our reach.

Our Research pointed us in the direction of a Lay-z-Spa and we quickly began talking to Wilton Bradley to make our final decision. We were extremely lucky to be gifted a Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub in return for our honest feedback on how we found it as a family.

(We have not been paid or given guidelines on what to share and all opinions are our own.)

6 months on and the Hot Tub is an intragal part of our family life. Starting way back when with Roman baths, communities have gathered together to bask in the relaxation and enjoyment that a spa can bring to daily life.

Our Hot Tub has been enjoyed in so many ways since it was installed. It has been a fantastic long-term investment for the entire family. The Hot tub functions as a fun family area and has quickly become the central hub of the garden, enjoyed equally by us all.

The younger children have used it regularly to develop their water confidence. They have also invited friends over to enjoy the fun. Our teenager has used it to relax and entertain his friends. And us adults have used it in the evenings as a way to unwind from the stresses of daily life as well as inviting friends over to join us.

Research indicates that parents spend real quality time with their children in their Hot Tubs and this has certainly been the case for us; No phones, no work calls, no distractions. Just 100% focus on the children and the importance of family time. It has provided us with an almost-year-round gathering space where we can talk to each other, listen with our full attention and relax. It has provided the perfect place for family bonding.

In a world full of distractions and stresses, the Hot Tub has reminded us of the importance to set time aside and focus on one another as well as the importance of taking time out and finding a new way to relax and re-focus.

As the Summer approaches there will be many an evening ending with a dip in the Hot Tub. Summer for us is a time to fill our garden with family and friends and what better way to enjoy the (hopefully) sunshine than enjoying quality time in the Hot Tub togther.

Get your playlist ready because once you’re in, you won’t want to be coming out for a long time!
